حدود العنف : دروس من حياة ثائر The Limitis of Violence (Arabic)
To our dear friends, those we know and do not know, in the Arab world and in Israel, we offer this free gift in the hopes that people of good heart will find ways to use it in the service of finding security and justice in their lands. The Limits of Violence: Lessons of a Revolutionary Life, recognizes that violence is part of the human story. Rather than condemn it unconditionally, it seeks to warn us of the limits of its usefulness in achieving the world we want for ourselves and our families. Through the journey of its protagonist, Elan Le Vieux, it arrives at outlines of answers to the complex questions we face in the clash of values, systems and interests that are always seeking balance. It does not claim to provide definitive answers, which is not possible, but to help us navigate the way to approach them even in the aftermath of a legacy of polarization and trauma.
This book was written in English and translated into Arabic, we hope in a way that retains its intended meaning. Ideally, it would have also been translated into Hebrew, but resources did not at the time permit doing so. If someone is called to make a responsible translation into Hebrew, you have our blessing, as this message must be equally understood and absorbed in all parts of the intertwined systems of people in this region. This is offered with love by those who have sought to give this story life for a quarter of a century, Ira Chaleff and Dario Orlando Fernandez.
